The best easy traditional hummus ever!

Rich and creamy hummus with lemon, tahini, and lots of garlic makes for the perfect easy and healthy dip that you can whip up in minutes. A Middle Eastern staple, this delicious hummus is something that I make on a weekly basis! It is so easy, fresh, healthy, and goes great with pretty much anything.

  • blender or food processor


  • One can garbanzo beans drained and rinsed
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1.5 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Juice of one lemon
  • 2 tablespoons tahini
  • Optional garnish: a spoonful of extra virgin olive oil sumac or paprika, zaatar and mint leaves.


  • In a food processor or blender (I use a Ninja), add all of the ingredients and mix until everything is well blended.
  • Pour into a small bowl, add your garnishes, and serve with pita chips or veggies (or both!). Enjoy!


Make sure to rinse and wash your garbanzo beans.  Even though you do need liquid for this recipe, using the brine or water in the can is not the way to go.  In general, I always thoroughly wash any beans from a can. Also, if you aren’t a big garlic fan feel free to add a bit less than I do, or even use garlic powder instead for a softer garlic flavor.  I love garlic, so I might even add a clove or two more for an extra kick.
