Easy Watermelon Margarita

Easy Watermelon Margarita
This watermelon margarita is so delicious and so refreshing, and can be made in minutes!  It doesn’t require a shaker, so that makes it even easier with little clean up, and it is a great alternative to more sugary blended margaritas.

Inspiration and thoughts

I love margaritas – who doesn’t?!  My favorites are definitely blended, but sometimes I just don’t want to get out the blender and deal with the clean up, so this recipe is the perfect alternative when you’re craving a margarita without the hassle. It’s so quick and easy and just as delicious and refreshing.  I again credit this recipe to my boyfriend Eli (if you didn’t see my Blackberry Martini recipe he inspired, check it out).

I love sparkling water, and usually LaCroix is one of my favorite brands.  I tried the LaCroix watermelon flavor though, which I hadn’t before, and didn’t like it as much as I thought I would.  I brought them to Eli’s and he of course thought of the best idea: why not use them to spice up a cocktail?  Naturally margaritas came to mind, and this recipe was born.  We definitely had several the first time making them, because they are that good.

How it’s made, substitutions, notes:

This one is so simple.  The recipe for this serves two, but you can easily cut it in half if you’re enjoying alone or double it if you have company!  Instead of using a shaker to mix the ingredients, for some cocktails I find it much easier (and less dishes!) to just mix everything together in the glass.

All you have to do for this cocktail is add every ingredient to the glass except the sparkling water and Grenadine.  Mix it up, add some ice, top it with Grenadine for that great color and extra sweet, and you’re golden!  So easy, so refreshing.

Another great thing about this margarita is how versatile it is.  If you don’t want to use Grand Marnier you can use Triple Sec or any other orange liqueur.

You can definitely use this as a template recipe for any easy and quick marg by using whatever flavor sparkling water you’d like.  I love the watermelon because I love that flavor, and it screams summer to me.  But could you use lime or coconut flavor? Definitely.  For this recipe though, the watermelon mixed with the orange flavor in the Grand Marnier and citrus really go well together. Enjoy this one!
